Volkswagen is expected to agree to a USD 10.2 billion settlement to cover government fines and compensate owners of vehicles fitted with software that violated emissions standards. According to multiple sources, Volkswagen's deal, due to be filed in a federal court next week, includes payments ranging between USD 1,000 and USD 7,000. It is reported that Volkswagen is not expected to be able to make all of the cars compliant with emissions standards. The settlement is expected to include a plan for Volkswagen to fund environmental initiatives. A Volkswagen spokeswoman based in the U.S. declined to comment on June 23.
